2009 Bug'n in July Charity Car Show

The North Alabama Volkswagen Club would like to thank everyone who attended their 10th Annual Bug'n in July charity car show. The show was once again held in beautiful Point Mallard Park in Decatur, Alabama on July 18-19, 2009. Proceeds from the show in the amount of $1,500 were donated to our sponsored charity, Crisis Services of North Alabama.

If you'd like to see some great pics of from the show, visit the Huntsville Car Scene's event coverage page, or our club photos page.

Thar she blows!

In case you missed the Sunday show, here's video of this year's ever popular and infamous Engine Blow, sponsored by Airkooled Kustoms.

What's an Engine Blow you say? It's where we salvage a thrashed Volkswagen engine from a junkyard and try to get it running again using old parts. We don't machine anything or add new parts. Once it's running, we run it wide open till it dies for your enjoyment.

The NAVWC would like to thank the City of Decatur for use of their wonderful facilities out at Point Mallard and for the awesome Movie Night on Friday night. Big thanks also to Boy Scout troop 333 for supplying nachos and drinks during the movie and for vending cool drinks, hot coffee, and fresh roasted peanuts during the weekend.

Swimmers, Bikers, and Runners, oh my!

Point Mallard Park, hidden among North Alabama's wooded pines, is a 500-acre family park that features an 18 hole golf course on one of the South's best golf courses, a 25-acre wooded campground, America's first wave pool, and an indoor ice skating rink! Point Mallard's additional facilities include tennis courts, batting cages, hiking/jogging/biking trails, and a driving range.

This year Point Mallard Park also hosted a triathalon on the same weekend as our car show. If you were there, you remember what a mess it caused with traffic. We've been told by park officials that the triathetes will be back next year on the same weekend, so we might have to move our location. Check back here on the Bug'n page at the beginning of the year as we work to solve the location problem. We might be in a new venue next year and we don't want you to miss a moment of Bug'n in July!

And now a word from our Sponsors...

And last, but certainly not least, everyone in the NAVWC would like to thank all of our sponsors (listed below) for their generous contribution and support of our show. Without their help and sponsorships and donations, Bug'n in July could not have happened. If you enjoyed our show, and you're in the area, please try to support those who supported us. Tell them how much you apprecited their generousity!
